Curriculum

Sensorial learning

Between ages two and five a child is classifying the world. Sensorial materials isolate one quality at a time — size, weight, color, texture, sound, temperature — so the mind can sort with precision.

Classic materials

The pink tower, brown stair, red rods, knobbed cylinders, and color tablets each isolate a single dimension. Children self-correct without an adult marking their work.

Natural extensions outdoors

We extend sensorial work into the garden with leaf sorting, stone grading, seed matching, and scent jars from the herb bed.

Preparation for abstraction

Grading ten rods by length is the physical rehearsal for understanding number, magnitude, and geometry later on.
