Who directs the day
Traditional classrooms usually rotate the whole group through teacher-led activities. Montessori children choose their own work from a prepared sequence within a long, uninterrupted block.
Materials and grouping
Montessori uses self-correcting materials and mixed ages, so children learn from each other and from the material itself rather than from correction.
How progress is measured
Instead of worksheets and stickers, guides document observed mastery and share narrative progress reports twice a year.
